ASSESS. ENGAGE. GROW.
A 3-phase marriage discipleship strategy.
As a part of Grace Marriage, couples will continually Assess, Engage and Grow – so they’ll know where their marriage is and where to go next. It’s not a program, it’s an ongoing path and a plan towards healthy, Christ-centered marriages.
A 3-phase marriage discipleship strategy.

Grace Marriage at FBCMaine is our new, year-round ministry designed to add joy, resilience, and growth to your marriage. Every year, there will be new content, with some review of the previous year, so couples can join in any year.
Think of Grace Marriage as a coaching session for your relationship with your spouse. Coaching is an effective tool used by individuals, businesses and sports teams to improve their performance in target areas. Likewise, Biblical, grace-based marriage coaching can be used to grow your relationship with your spouse to the level God designed it to be.
Husbands and wives will meet on the second Friday evening of each month, where the coaching will focus on positive aspects of our marriages as well as on Biblical and practical insights that can lead us to experience increased “wins” as couples. These monthly coaching sessions are not seminar lectures, marriage counseling, or group therapy. You will not be expected to share secrets or failures.
Instead, think of this as your monthly marriage-maintenance checkup for keeping your relationship with your spouse performing at top level. You will find that the time and effort you put into this can revolutionize your marriage.
If you’ve been married 5 days, 5 years, or 50 years, you can find value and blessing by participating in a Grace Marriage group.
WHEN AND WHERE IS GRACE MARRIAGE?
Sessions will be held the second Friday evening of each month in the Marriage Ministry Room at First Baptist Church of Maine, NY, beginning on September 12th, 2025. 6:00-6:30 pm - Gathering Time as everyone arrives 6:30-8:00 pm - Marriage Coaching Time as everyone works on their marriage There is no minimum attendance requirement, but the benefits to your marriage will only show up when you choose to commit to working on your relationship with your spouse.
WHO WILL WE BE WITH?
Any married couple in our area may join a Grace Marriage group at FBCMaine. They do not have to be members of our church. All couples who join the group are presumed to have an intentional commitment to grow in their relationship with each other and with the Lord. There is likely to be a wide range of adult ages in any Grace Marriage group.
WHAT WILL MONTHLY COACHING LOOK LIKE?
After a short, informal time of gathering, couples will sit at round tables where they will walk through that month’s material as a group. They will view short video clips, write their thoughts in their individual journals, and then separate into semi-private spaces to quietly discuss the topic with their spouse. While there will be time for sharing in group conversation, no one will be forced to share in the group. The primary focus of the time spent in each session is for spouses to spend time together working on their own marriage. The sessions will end promptly at 8:00 pm, so couples can choose to extend their “date night” by going out for dessert or some other special time together before heading home.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDCARE?
We hope you will think of Grace Marriage sessions as a monthly date night for you and your spouse. Establishing a regular babysitter for your family is a great way to move towards more frequent date nights that can, in the long run, help you grow closer as a couple. If you would like a listing of young people in our church who may be available to babysit in your home at the typical cost, please ask one of the Marriage Ministry leaders.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
First, answer this question: What is it worth to find joy, resilience, hope, and closeness in your marriage? Now consider this: The cost for 12 coaching sessions, including all materials and resources, is just $189 per couple for the year. That is about $0.52 a day for a year. It is only $3.63 per week. Do you and your spouse spend more than that on weekly snacks or coffee drinks? It is only $15.75 per month - about the cost of a single, low-budget gym membership. In the same way that a gym membership has potential to impact your energy, strength, and vitality, Grace Marriage coaching has potential to impact your relationship with your spouse for years to come. However, just like a gym membership, if you make excuses and don’t commit, the money you spend on it is pointless. We encourage you to consider your participation fee as an investment in the future of your marriage. What a great Christmas, birthday, or anniversary gift!
